The UAE T20 Tri-Series 2025 is heating up and all eyes now move to Match 3 where United Arab Emirates (UAE) lock horns with Afghanistan (AFG) on Monday, September 1 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The game gets underway at 8:30 PM IST and with both sides still searching for their first win, expect sparks to fly under the Sharjah lights.

United Arab Emirates

The hosts, UAE, had a tough start against Pakistan, going down by 31 runs in a high-scoring contest. Their bowlers Junaid Siddique and Saghir Khan grabbed three wickets apiece but leaked plenty as Pakistan piled on 207.

With the bat, Asif Khan was the lone warrior, smashing a blistering 77 off 35 balls. But apart from him, no one could step up, and that cost them the game. Heading into this clash, UAE will want more support from their middle order and a bit more discipline with the ball.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan too had a dismal start, falling short by 39 runs in their opening game. Their bowlers shared the spoils with Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi and Fareed Ahmad all in the wickets column. But chasing 183, their batting never really clicked.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz gave a glimpse of his power with 38, Sediqullah Atal added 23, and skipper Rashid Khan provided late fireworks with 39 off just 16 balls, but it wasn’t enough as they folded for 143. Rashid’s men will be itching for a more complete performance this time around.

How Will The Pitch At Sharjah Cricket Stadium Behave?

Sharjah Cricket Stadium pitch has always been a batter’s track with its short boundaries and true surface. Runs are usually on tap here and once again, the pitch is expected to favour the bat over the ball. Teams batting first have won 25 of the 43 T20Is played here and both games in this series so far have gone the same way. Captains winning the toss will be tempted to put runs on the board. Spinners might come into play in the middle overs, but the powerplay will be all about clean hitting and setting the tone.

Players To Watch Out For In UAE vs AFG 3rd T20I

United Arab Emirates

Muhammad Waseem

Muhammad Waseem is a power-hitter at the top. With 277 runs in his last 10 games at a strike rate of 158, he is the one who can set the tone with fearless strokeplay. If he fires, UAE’s batting looks completely different.

Saghir Khan

Saghir Khan has been UAE’s trump card with 12 wickets in the last seven games. His economy might hover around 8 but he has the knack of breaking partnerships at key moments. On Sharjah’s surface, he could be crucial.

Asif Khan

Fresh off his whirlwind 77 against Pakistan, Asif Khan is UAE’s man in form. In his last 10 outings, he has scored 246 runs at an average of 41 with a strike rate nearing 177. If he continues that rhythm, Afghanistan’s bowlers will have their hands full.

Afghanistan

Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Rahmanullah Gurbaz is always a threat. Though he averages just 18.9 in his last 10 matches, his aggressive intent can put bowlers under pressure right away. If Gurbaz gets going, Afghanistan’s innings takes a whole new shape.

Azmatullah Omarzai

A genuine all-rounder, Azmatullah Omarzai can chip in with both bat and ball. With 159 runs in his last 10 games, he hasn’t quite found consistency, but his ability to clear the ropes makes him dangerous in Sharjah.

Rashid Khan

The star attraction for Afghanistan. With 18 wickets in his last 10 matches at an economy of just 6.73, Rashid Khan remains the biggest threat for UAE. Add in his quickfire 39 against Pakistan and it is clear he can change a game with both bat and ball.
