It was a night filled with Aussie flair, big performances and a fairytale finish for Northern Superchargers in The Women’s Hundred 2025 final at Lord’s. But the most heartwarming moment came came during the celebrations, when Lucy Higham carried out a life-size cut-out of injured teammate Georgia Wareham so she could “be there” with the squad as they lifted the trophy.
Lucy Higham Ensures Georgia Wareham Joins Title Celebrations With Life Size Cut Out
The Superchargers Women had just outclassed the unbeaten Southern Brave, cruising to a seven-wicket win with 12 balls left in the bank. Annabel Sutherland hit the winning six, Nicola Carey was named Player of the Match and Phoebe Litchfield bagged the Player of the Series award after topping the run charts with 292 runs.
But even amid all the Aussie fireworks, the team found a way to honour the missing piece of their puzzle: Georgia Wareham, who had to leave the tournament midway due to injury.
Wareham, affectionately called “Wolf” by her teammates, might not have been on the field at Lord’s, but her presence was felt. As the Superchargers gathered for their trophy lift, Lucy Higham pulled out a full-size cardboard cut-out of the Australian all-rounder.
The moment drew smiles, laughs and even a few emotional glances. The gesture meant that Wareham was part of the pictures, the celebrations and the champagne moment.
The Aussie Connection
The Superchargers’ win in the final had plenty of green-and-gold flavour. Sutherland’s 28 not out and two wickets, Carey’s unbeaten 35 at a strike rate of 140, and Litchfield’s tournament-leading tally all made the difference.
Captain Hollie Armitage wasn’t exaggerating when she called them the “fantastic Aussies”. But the cut-out of Wareham showed it was more than just about runs and wickets, it was about spirit.
Meanwhile, for a team that played some scintillating cricket in the second half of the competition, the celebrations were always going to be special and Higham’s gesture added the cherry on top.
