In a night where Pakistan’s batting firepower was on full display, UAE’s Asif Khan carved out a moment of history, producing a lone but defiant knock that has etched his name in the record books during the second clash of the UAE Tri-Series.

Walking in under immense pressure, Asif counterattacked in style, smashing a breathtaking 77 off just 35 balls against one of the most feared bowling line-ups in the world.

Asif Khan Launches Counterattack vs Pakistan

Asif Khan's innings, decorated with six fours and six sixes, was not just about entertainment, it made him the highest run-scorer for UAE at No.6 or lower in T20 internationals, surpassing Khurram Khan’s 52 in 2010.

The right-hander’s fearless approach stood tall amidst a collapsing batting order. With wickets tumbling around him, Asif absorbed the responsibility and chose attack as the best form of defense. His 220.00 strike rate left even Pakistan’s bowlers visibly frustrated, as he cleared the ropes with effortless ease. Each big hit spoke of his intent to give UAE a fighting chance in a daunting chase of 208.

Asif Khan's Bravery Puts Him At The Top

What made the knock even more special was the context, Pakistan had already piled up a huge score, and the UAE were sinking at 68-4 in the 9th over when Asif took charge. From that point, he orchestrated a counterpunch, adding crucial runs with Dhruv Parashar and later Muhammad Saghir Khan.

This innings now sits at the top of UAE’s list for highest scores from No.6 or lower in T20Is, a rare record that underlines not just resilience but also belief that the Emirati side can stand toe-to-toe with the giants of international cricket.

Pakistan Crush UAE To Stand Tall

As far as the match was concerned, Pakistan’s early blitz had set the tone. Saim Ayub (69 off 38) and Hasan Nawaz (56 off 26) stitched together a brutal middle-phase assault to guide Pakistan to a towering 207 in 20 overs.

In reply, UAE’s chase never really found momentum outside of Asif Khan’s fireworks. Skipper Muhammad Waseem chipped in with 33 off 18, but regular strikes by Nawaz and Hasan Ali kept Pakistan in command. Eventually, UAE finished at 176-8 in 20 overs, falling 31 runs short.
