Who Is The USA's Super Over Hero Saurabh Netravalkar, Who Has Played With KL Rahul, Suryakumar?

Saurabh Netravalkar starred in the USA's win in a super over cliffhanger against Pakistan in Group A's clash at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas as the host nation made it two wins in two games at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The United States asked Pakistan to bat first in Match 11 and Netravalkar started with a wicket in the second ball of his spell while bowling with the new ball, dismissing Mohammad Rizwan on 9. He then came back and trapped dangerous Ifthikar Ahmed lbw on the first ball of the 19th over.

His 4 overs with impressive figures of 2/18 were followed by his heroics in the super over, where he defended USA's 18 runs while scalping Ifthikar yet again, resulting in a historic win for the USA.


Who is Saurabh Netravalkar, USA's Super Over Hero?

The USA's left-arm quick, Saurabh was born in Mumbai on October 17, 1991. The 32-year-old was a part of India's 2010 U-19 World Cup squad, where he also played alongside Indian stars, KL Rahul, Harshal Patel and Mayank Agarwal. 

He scalped 9 wickets in that U19 World Cup, including Ahmed Shehzad in the encounter against Pakistan where Babar Azam featured as well.

He represented Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy before shifting to the USA for his Master's in CS at the prestigious Cornell University in 2015. He got selected for the US for the first time in 2018 where he made his List A debut. 

In 2019, he was named the captain of the team for the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two in Namibia where they achieved their ODI status. He also etched his name in history by becoming the first-ever player to captain the USA in ODI cricket.

Apart from cricket, Netravalkar is the Principal Member of the Technical Staff at Oracle. Fascinatingly, he also sings and is as good with Ukulele in his hands as the ball.
