Smriti Mandhana To Drop Sophie Devine? Here’s RCB Women Probable Playing XI Vs Gujarat Giants

The RCB Women seized a narrow two-run triumph over UP Warriorz Women to launch their WPL 2024 campaign on a winning note. Sabbhineni Meghana and wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh both listed scintillating half-centuries before Asha Sobhana claimed five wickets in her four-over spell to trigger a colossal batting collapse in the Warriorz camp.

The RCB Women, charged up with a thrilling win in their opening game of the season, will now face the Gujarat Giants Women in match number five of the tournament. Ahead of their much-awaited contest on February 27, here is a look at the probable playing XI of the RCB Women’s unit.

RCB Team Composition

Batting all-rounder and RCB’s New Zealand import Sophie Devine was dismissed for just a run and conceded 10 off her sole over in the match against UP Warriorz Women in Bengaluru on February 24.

Even though the star New Zealand all-rounder failed to make any impact with both bat and ball, captain Smriti Mandhana will likely retain her opening partner for their upcoming game. Considering the RCB unit prevailed in their first match at the same venue, the team management might well field a similar playing XI against Gujarat Giants.

Sophie Devine will continue to open the innings with Mandhana, while Sabbhineni Meghana, Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry and wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh will helm the team’s middle-order.

Mandhana fielded four frontline spinners against UP Warriorz in the form of local stars Shreyanka Patil and Asha Sobhana as well as Australian spin twins Georgia Wareham and Sophie Molineux. Renuka Singh Thakur and Simran Bahadur will start out as RCB’s primary pace options in the playing XI.
