India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was delighted to see another leg-spinner shine for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, as leg spinner Sobhana Asha emerged as the wrecker-in-chief against UP Warriorz in the second game of the ongoing Women's Premier League 2024.

Defending a modest total, Sobhana ran through the Warriorz batting lineup with a spell of a lifetime as she claimed a five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 5/22 in her four overs.

She accounted for the dismissals of UP Warriorz's top-six batters, including Vrinda Dinesh, Tahila McGrath, Grace Harris, Shweta Sehrawat, and Kiran Navgire.

With this outstanding spell, Asha became the first Indian player to achieve a fifer in WPL’s history, leading the Smriti Mandhana-led side to victory in their first home match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

For Yuzvendra Chahal, Sobhana Asha's leg-spin masterclass evoked memories of his own success at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during his time with RCB in the IPL. Chahal thrived in the challenging bowling conditions at the venue, where many bowlers struggled.

Impressed by Asha's performance, Chahal couldn't help but praise the emerging spin sensation.

Here's what he wrote:

The match between RCB and UP Warriorz unfolded as a thrilling contest, with Sobhana Asha's heroics ultimately securing RCB's first victory and two crucial points in the points table.

While Alyssa Healy's side posed a threat at one point, particularly with Grace Harris and Shweta Sehrawat's 77-run partnership, Asha turned the tide by claiming three wickets in her last over and another in the 17th over. UP Warriorz, who dominated most of the game, faltered in the death overs.
