After having a disastrous T20 World Cup campaign in the United States and Caribbean, Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in a two-match Test series. The series holds paramount importance for the Bangla Tigers, as it is a part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.

Meanwhile, ahead of the series, Bangladesh have suffered a massive setback, with ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan being doubtful for the tour.

The country is witnessing a political unrest at the moment, and as a result of it, Shakib recently lost his parliamentary seat.

In such a scenario, his return to the country hangs by a thread as he continues representing the Bangla Tigers Mississuga in the Global T20 2024.

So, as the veteran all-rounder's participation is in jeopardy, let's see what Bangladesh's potential Test squad could be for the tour.

Shakib doubtful for Pakistan Tests; who will get in?

For the unversed, promising batter Najmul Hossain Shanto leads Bangladesh in Tests. Apart from his gritty batting, the southpaw adds immense value to the team as an able leader.

Apart from Shanto, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque are expected to be picked as pure batters, with the legendary Mushfiqur Rahim securing a place as the wicket-keeper.

Besides Rahim, Litton Das will likely be chosen as the second keeper-batter for the Pakistan Tests. Since making his debut, Litton has established himself as a vital cog in the Tigers' setup across formats.

If Shakib misses out, Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be Bangladesh's leading spin bowling all-rounder. Given his skills, he can be a game-changer for the visitors with bat and ball.

Apart from Miraz, Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan could be picked as the spinners, with Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain leading the pace battery, subject to their fitness.

Khaled Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud and Shahadat Hossain are expected to fill the remaining slots along with Towhid Hridoy, Khaled Ahmed and Shoriful Islam.
