The Oval Invincibles Women are facing the Southern Brave Women in the 22nd match of the Women's Hundred 2024 at the Kennington Oval in London. The Southern Brave women won the toss and opted to field first in the game.

The Oval Invincibles has a solid solid top order and would have hoped for a good start from the likes of Chamari Athapaththu, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Alice Capsey and Marizanne Kapp. However, things did not turn as per their expectations as they lost two early wickets.

Lauren Cheatle gives the Southern Brave a solid start

The Australian seamer from the Southern Brave, Lauren Cheatle gave her team a solid start. In the first set of the inning, Cheatle got rid of the dangerous Chamari Athapaththu with a beautiful and subltle away swinger. This was a huge shock for the Oval Invincibles and they needed the likes of Alice Capsey and Marizanne Kapp to put up their hands at this stage and turn things around for the team.

The English top-order batter, Alice Capsey has been in a good form with the bat in this tournament. She has delivered a couple of good knocks already and the stage was perfectly set for her to play one of her classic knocks. Howevever, Cheatle trapped her with a fullish delivery on the off stump in the fifth set. Capsey was looking to get the momentum going and tried to over the mid-wicket fence. However, the connection was not right for her and she was held in the deep by Freya Kemp.

At the time of writing, the Oval Invincbles Women are stationed at 38/2 in 35 balls with Lauren Winfield-Hill and Marizanne Kapp in the middle and the game being paused due to rain.
