Pakistan on Wednesday (August 7) announced a strong squad for their upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. The unit will be led by Shan Masood, while Saud Shakeel has been surprisingly appointed as his deputy.

As the series is all set to begin on August 21 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, let's take a look at which players will be in focus when they all will be in action.

Shaheen Afridi

The 24-year-old, in particular, will be massively pumped up to perform against Bangladesh. He had been heavily criticized since his disciplinary actions became the topic of discussion, and even was about to be suspended from this series.

However, the PCB decided not to take any further action against their former Pakistan captain. And now, the talismanic left-arm quick would love to silence the critics even more in a fixture which will be his first red-ball outing since December 2023, when they met Australia at the MCG.

Babar Azam

Similar to Shaheen, Babar Azam had been the talk of the town lately, particularly because of his failures in back-to-back ICC events. His captaincy does not work as much, and it makes a significant impact on his batting prowess as well.

As the team will have Masood as captain, Babar has a golden opportunity to regain his good old form. And hence, Pakistan’s white-ball skipper would be desperately looking forward to turning things around against Bangladesh.

Naseem Shah

Naseem, Pakistan’s golden boy, has not played a Test match since July 2023. The 21-year-old is yet to be at his very best in a continuous manner in Tests, and after a prolonged break due to injury concerns, he will be back to return in style in whites.

If Naseem can breathe fire alongside Shaheen, it would be a treat to watch. However, only time will tell whether Rawalpindi's track, which is known for his flat nature, would assist them to do so.
