The Pakistan cricket team is set to host a two-match Test series against Bangladesh at home. The matches, also forming a part of the 2023-25 WTC cycle, marks Pakistan’s return to the Test fold for the first time since suffering a 0-3 drubbing in Australia earlier this year.

Former Pakistan batter Salman Butt recently slammed the PCB by alleging that the board constantly compromises with the number of Test matches in favour of T20Is. Moreover, Butt also claimed that several Pakistan players do not play enough first-class cricket.

Salman Butt is of the opinion that Pakistan players do not play enough first-class matches and tend to struggle finding the right combinations in Test cricket. As quoted by Cricket Pakistan, Butt also slammed the PCB for constantly compromising with the number of Test matches in favor of rising T20Is.

The former Pakistan opening batter further criticized Babar Azam, shedding light on his leadership record in the past couple of ICC tournaments. Under Babar’s leadership, the Pakistan team suffered first-round exits at the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup.

"He (Babar) is not a born leader. But the issue is, what have you contributed to make it easier for him? You brought in two guys who humiliated him on TV. Then you changed the captain and brought him back after two series. You are creating corners within the team yourself,” Butt stated.

Notably, Babar Azam stepped down as Pakistan’s all-format captain back in November 2023. However, the PCB reinstated him as captain, mere weeks prior to the launch of the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies.
