Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the sixth fixture of the IPL 2025 season. The clash will be held on March 26 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati from 7.30 PM IST.

Both teams are coming off a loss in their season-opening games. While KKR lost to RCB, RR were trashed by SRH as they slammed 286 runs in the first inning and restricted the Royals to 242.

Meanwhile, before the big game, here are 5 interesting player battles to watch out for in the KKR vs RR game.

1. Quinton de Kock vs Sandeep Sharma

(Quinton de Kock vs Sandeep Sharma in IPL)

  • KKR’s South African opener, Quinton de Kock is an aggressive batter but RR’s swing bowler Sandeep Sharma has dismissed him twice in their previous encounters.
  • With a strike rate of 122.9, De Kock has had decent success against Sandeep, but the latter's ability to move the ball both ways could trouble him early on.
  • If Sandeep gets the new ball to swing, KKR’s powerplay plans might take a hit.

2. Sanju Samson vs Varun Chakravarthy

(Sanju Samson vs Varun Chakravarthy in IPL)

  • RR’s skipper Sanju Samson has a history of dominating KKR’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy.
  • Despite facing 23 deliveries from Chakravarthy, Samson has never been dismissed, scoring at a phenomenal strike rate of 169.6.
  • With Samson’s attacking mindset and ability to play spin well in the middle overs, KKR will need to rethink their plans against him.

3. Shimron Hetmyer vs Sunil Narine

Strike Rate89.5

(Shimron Hetmyer vs Sunil Narine in IPL)

  • West Indian power-hitter Shimron Hetmyer has been a reliable finisher for RR, but he has struggled against KKR’s veteran spinner Sunil Narine.
  • His strike rate of 89.5 against Narine suggests that he finds it tough to accelerate against him.
  • Narine’s variations and control in the middle overs could prevent Hetmyer from playing his natural attacking game. Hence, this matchup could be crucial, especially in the latter half of the innings when RR looks to finish strong.

4. Ajinkya Rahane vs Jofra Archer

Strike Rate11.1

(Ajinkya Rahane vs Jofra Archer in IPL)

  • Jofra Archer had a horrendous outing against SRH, leaking 76 runs in 4 overs. However, against Ajinkya Rahane, his records are promising. Rahane has scored just one run off nine balls against Archer and has been dismissed once.
  • With an extremely poor strike rate of 11.1, Rahane has struggled to handle Archer’s raw pace and bounce with the new ball. Hence, KRR will be cautious with their powerplay plans as Archer could trouble Rahane with the new ball.

5. Sunil Narine vs Fazalhaq Farooqi

Strike Rate27.3

(Sunil Narine vs Fazalhaq Farooqi in IPL)

  • KKR will continue to use Sunil Narine as an opener, but his record against Afghan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi is dreadful. In just 11 balls, Farooqi has dismissed Narine twice, conceding only 3 runs.
  • With a shocking strike rate of 27.3, Narine has found it difficult to handle Farooqi’s left-arm pace. If RR decides to use Farooqi in the powerplay, Narine could struggle to provide KKR with a quick start.
