New Zealand beat Pakistan by 8 wickets in the fifth and final T20I to win the 5-game series. Pakistan suffered a brutal collapse in the first inning and despite skipper Salman Agha’s fifty, they managed only 128 runs on the board.

In the chase, Tim Seifert went bonkers, hitting 97 runs off just 38 balls. His blazing inning helped the Kiwis wrap up the chase in 10 overs and seal the series with a 4-1 lead.

Here's how PAK vs NZ 5th T20I panned out in Wellington:

Hasan Nawaz Goes For Duck As NZ Dismantle Pakistan

New Zealand won the toss and opted to field first. Jacob Duffy got the man in form, Hasan Nawaz for a duck. Duffy bowled a magic delivery that pitched on leg-stump and straightened sharply, catching Nawaz off guard. As he attempted to flick it into the leg side, the ball took a leading edge and flew towards the slip cordon. James Neesham reacted swiftly, diving across to complete a sharp catch.

That wicket triggered an ugly collapse as Pakistan lost four batters on single digits scores. Usman Khan, Mohammad Haris and Abdul Samad let the team down as Pakistan were reduced to 54/5 at 10 overs.

Skipper Salman Agha Guides Pakistan To Decent Total

While things went downhill in the first half, Pakistan captain Salman Agha showed some fighting spirit, hitting a sublime half-century. With 6 boundaries and a solitary six, he hit 51 runs off 39 balls.

Moreover, Shadab Khan supported him with a crucial 28 off 20 balls and Pakistan managed to save humiliation by posting 128/9 on the board at the end of the first 20 overs.

For New Zealand, James Neesham bowled a terrific spell to claim a sensational five-wicket-haul. Jacob Duffy also picked 2 wickets and conceded just 18 runs in his 4 overs.

Tim Seifert Humiliates Jahandad Khan With His Onslaught

New Zealand openers Tim Seifert and Finn Allen came out all guns blazing in the second inning and posted a record total in the powerplay. Seifert began his onslaught in the first over, hitting 10 runs against Jahandad Khan.

However, that was just the beginning of Tim’s carnage. With 67 runs already on the board in the first five overs, Tim Seifert took Jahandad to the cleaners in the final over of the powerplay. With three towering sixes and a boundary, he hit 25 runs off that over to power New Zealand to record 92 runs in the powerplay.

Seifert Takes New Zealand Home With Match-Winning 97

Tim Seifert was in a mood to wrap up the chase quickly. After Jahandad, his next target was Shadab Khan. In the tenth over, the Kiwi opener trashed four sixes against Shadab to bring up a massive 26 runs over and also win the game. New Zealand won the game by 8 wickets and Seifert finished with a sensational 97* off just 38 balls, including 10 big sixes and 6 boundaries. With that, New Zealand won the five-game series by a 4-1 lead.
