Sanju Samson has been a poster boy of Rajasthan Royals for a long time now. He has been leading the franchise since 2021 and took them to the final of IPL in the 2022 season. He is the captain of Rajasthan Royals in the 2025 edition as well, but is not leading the side for the initial three matches.

Samson Gives Reality Check To RR Fans

The reason for it is his finger injury, and Riyan Parag is leading RR for the initial three matches. In a recent interview, he revealed his thinking about his captaincy future, and the challenge for them in IPL 2025.

He stated that when he took RR to the final of IPL 2022, he had a thought that he would not remain captain of Rajasthan Royals forever and he has been thinking about the next line of leaders since then.

"In my second year as captain of Rajasthan Royals captain, I was thinking, I am not going to remain Rajasthan Royals captain forever. There has to be someone who is going to come and someone will have to groom."

Also, he stated that there is challenge after the auction because they have a lot more younger lot in this cycle. However, he expressed confidence in their abilities and mentioned that they are hungry to prove their worth, and have experience of paying T20 cricket before.

Riyan Parag's maiden stint as IPL captain did not go well for RR, and SRH ended up smashing 286 in their 20 overs. They came close to their own record of highest-ever IPL total, and Rajasthan Royals would have to show more fight in the upcoming games.
