India have faced a humiliating defeat against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The Rohit Sharma-led side will seek to revive themselves and reinstate their pride in the international arena.

The next big assignment for India will be the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. They will be looking to put in a resilient and resolute display in the tournament and present a formidable challenge to the other teams for the title.

The Indian team is gearing up for the tournament and looking to build the best squad possible for it. While there will be some new players who could be the stars for the team in the tournament, there are some promising talents who might not get a chance to play.

The Indian keeper batter has shown much promise as a top-order batter, especially in the T20Is. Sanju Samson's recent displays with the bat in the shortest format of international cricket brought him into the discussion to be part of the ODI side. However, given India's composition, Samson might not be a part of the side that boards the flight to UAE.

The young Indian pacer impressed a lot during the last edition of the Indian Premier League. His impressive show in the tournament earned him a national call-up, and Harshit Rana made his debut in the Test. Given the way Rana has bowled and looked potent, especially with the new ball, he could have been a great option for India in the Champions Trophy 2025. However, with Arshdeep Singh returning to the mix, Rana might not get a call-up for the CT 2025.

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad

The Indian opener and CSK skipper had been performing brilliantly in almost all formats of the game. Ruturaj Gaikwad has proven himself a stable top-order batter and a consistent run-scorer. However, India seem to have a settled opening combination in Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. The backup opener for the side will be Yashasvi Jaiswal; hence, Gaikwad might miss out on the selection.
