Sam Konstas and Virat Kohli were the names that made waves more than the games played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia. Virat Kohli's antics with Konstas, by now, is known to every cricket enthusiast and while the community is divided on who was at fault, the 19-year-old Aussie batter dropped a calming pill amidst the chaos to settle the matter.

The infamous 'shoulder-bump' incident went down at the MCG when Sam Konstas was firing all guns with the bat. Things got intense between him and Kohli after a few overs of his explosive attack. After Kohli, the former India captain, purposely bumped into him while heading to the other end of the crease right after the 10th over, a heated exchange of words followed.

However, Konstas shared in a recently held interview that he had a chat with Kohli after the game where he shared that he idolises the 36-year-old.

Konstas Reveals Post-Match Chat With Kohli

Speaking to Code Sports, Konstas revealed his chat with Virat Kohli sharing how he idolises him and had his fanboy moment when Kohli walked in to bat on the ground.

"After the game, I had a brief chat with him and told him that I idolize him. Playing against him is truly a huge honour. When I faced him, I couldn’t help but think, 'Wow, Virat Kohli is batting.' He had this incredible presence, with the Indian crowd fully behind him, chanting his name. It was a surreal experience."

Konstas further added that Kohli has wished him luck for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour of Australia and hopes that he does well on the tour.

"My whole family loves him. He's very down to earth and lovely person. I told him that I idolise you. He wished me all the best saying, 'Hopefully you go well on the tour of Sri Lanka.'"

With the internet and critics still divided about the incident, it is worth mentioning that the rift between Kohli and Konstas is likely sorted as per his recent interview. For the unaware, another rift which went ugly between Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head was also sorted by the end of the Adelaide Test.

Konstas' Impressive Debut

Sam Konstas was impressive with the bat in BGT. The debutant scored 113 runs in his 4 innings at a strike rate of 81.88. The young batter was also impressed in his first-class matches, with 718 runs in his 18 innings and the highest score of 152 and 2 centuries to his name.
