With a match still to be played, India have already captured the ODI series and have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. In both the ODI matches, the Men in Blue dominated the proceedings against the English side and never allowed the opposition to make a comeback in the contest.

In the first ODI, despite losing some quick wickets early on, India chased down the total set by England, courtesy of sublime knocks from Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill. In the second game, chasing in excess of 300, India needed their skipper to stand up and he delivered the goods.

Rohit Sharma slammed his 32nd ODI century to steer India to a comfortable series victory over the English side.

The caravan has now moved towards the dead rubber in Ahmedabad, and with the Champions Trophy in focus, India could make swift moves and there could be a new leader to lead the team in 3rd ODI.

No Rohit Sharma, Gill to lead?

Rohit Sharma scored one of his best ODI hundreds, however, with the dead rubber in mind and the Champions Trophy coming up, Rohit will be hoping to take some rest in order to recover before the mega ICC event.

India would want their ODI captain to be at their best and now since he is back amongst the run-getters, he'll be tempted to opt out of the 3rd ODI. In his place, Shubman Gill, the vice-captain of the team could lead the side. Gill is touted as the future captain and the 3rd ODI will provide a glimpse of how Gill marshals his troops.

In Rohit's place, Yashasvi Jaiswal could come in. The opener played the first ODI and was draft for the second ODI as Virat Kohli returned after an injury.

Middle order to remain the same

Virat Kohli will be eager to get some form back ahead of the Champions Trophy and will bat at number 3. India's best batter in this series, Shreyas Iyer will continue to play at 4, and the Axar Patel experiment is set to continue as the all-rounder will once again bat at number 5, followed by KL Rahul, who was demoted from his usual number 5 place.

No Shami, Arshdeep back?

Mohammad Shami has lacked the cutting edge since his return to the team and doesn't look in fine rhythm. In his place, Arshdeep Singh should be given a chance as with Arshdeep, India will get a left-arm angle and it will create problems for the English batters.

He can utilise his height to his advantage and can generate extra bounce from the Narendra Modi Stadium surface.

The rest of the team should remain the same as India look to whitewash the England team and win the ODI series, 3-0.
