It was a monumental day for MI Cape Town (MICT), as they won their maiden SA20 season title with a dominant 76-run victory over Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) in the 2025 final at Wanderers Stadium. But what made the final moment more special was when Kavya Maran, owner of Sunrisers Eastern Cape, hugged Akash Ambani, owner of MI Cape Town.

Both have been rivals on the field but their shared hug symbolised the spirit of sportsmanship. In the pictures shared on social media, the two are seen having a chat and hugging one another. The photo of Kavya Maran and Akash Ambani is quickly spreading all over the internet.

Rashid Khan Leads MI Cape Town To Victory

MICT won the toss and posted a total of 181/8 in 20 overs, was set by Ryan Rickelton's aggressive start and a fiery innings by Baby AB Dewald Brevis. The opening pair did well, but Rickelton's dismissal on Craig Overton's slower ball saw a collapse. Then, Marco Jansen sent Brevis back, but Connor Esterhuizen hit a hat-trick of boundaries to give MICT a chance as the lower order added crucial runs, including Delano Potgieter and Kagiso Rabada.

In counter, Sunrisers Eastern Cape could not cope with the run flow. The pressure mounted on Tony de Zorzi and Tom Abell. Rashid Khan and George Linde supported well and bowled out SEC for just 105 in 18.4 overs, giving MICT a thumping 76-run victory in SA20. Not to forget, Rabada was the star of the show with his four wicket haul.
