The wait is almost over as the much anticipated Border-Gavaskar series is just around the corner. Two strong teams, India and Australia will fight it out in a riveting 5-match Test series and it could decide the fate of the WTC finals as well.
India are coming into this series on the back of an embarrassing defeat against the New Zealand team, and will need to beat the Aussies, 4-0 to seal their place in the finals. Even before the series has started, Team India have been marred with injuries and absence of key players.
Cummins to go with 4 pacers, McSweeney to open
On the other hand, Australia have not played a Test match since the start of the year but will be eager to continue the momentum which they have shown in the limited overs format. All the key players are back and they also have David Warner's replacement ready in the side. Nathan McSweeney, has been touted as the next big thing and will open the batting for the Aussies alongside Usman Khawaja.
Out of form, Marnus Labuschagne will bat at number 3 as he'll look to get back amongst the run-getters. Perhaps the biggest decision Cricket Australia has made in recent times is to shift Steve Smith back at number 4. The Australian great struggled at the opening slot but will find it home at his usual position.
India's nemesis, Travis Head will bat at number 5, and with no Cameron Green in the squad, Mitch Marsh will work as the all-rounder. Alex Carey to be the keeper and the spin department will be taken care by the wily Nathan Lyon.
In the pace department, Australia have the experienced trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc and the Perth surface will suit their style of bowling.
The team won't sprung a surprise as they take on a depleted India side in the first Test match in Perth on November 22.
