Hosts New Zealand and the visiting Pakistan team will now collide in the second T20I of their five-match series. The match will be hosted by the University of Otago Oval in Dunedin on Tuesday, March 18 from 6:45 AM IST onwards.

New Zealand won the first T20I in Christchurch by nine wickets a couple of days ago to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Fast bowlers Kyle Jamieson (3-8) and Jacob Duffy (4-14) picked up seven wickets between them to fold up Pakistan’s entire line-up for just 91 in 18.4 overs after winning the toss and opting to field first. Zakary Foulkes (1-11) and Ish Sodhi (2-27) also chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.

In response, New Zealand opener Tim Seifert belted 44 off 29 balls and Finn Allen made 29* from 17 as the hosts cruised past its target in just 10.1 overs to hand Pakistan it’s biggest T20I defeat to date, in terms of number of balls remaining.

NZ vs PAK 2nd T20I Predicted Game Changers

Tim Seifert

  • New Zealand opener Tim Seifert blazed his way to a scintillating 44 from just 29 balls against Pakistan in the first T20I of the series at the Hagley Oval. His tendency of taking the attack to the opposition has often yielded quick starts for New Zealand, and he holds an astonishing T20I strike rate of 135.25 in his career.
  • Tim Seifert also blasted a match-winning knock of 79 runs from just 43 balls against Sri Lanka at the University Oval in Dunedin a couple of years ago. Launching three boundaries and six maximums in the process, the conditions at the venue seems to assist his free-flowing style of play.

Shaheen Afridi

  • Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi still remains their best bet of getting early wickets against New Zealand. A veteran of 76 T20Is, the speedster has already claimed 100 wickets at an average of 21.41.
  • While bowling in New Zealand conditions, Afridi has collected 13 wickets in nine matches.

University Oval, Dunedin Pitch Report

The surface at the University Oval in Dunedin is highly conducive for batting. In the three T20I matches hosted at the venue so far, the teams batting first have managed to mount 200-plus totals on two of those occasions, and the average first innings total here has turned out to be a staggering 195. As evidenced by the previous match played in Dunedin last year, spinners will likely have a tough time bowling in these conditions. Fast bowlers will be required to employ variations, and their best bet to get wickets remains with the new ball.

NZ vs PAK Toss Prediction

The captain winning the toss will be expected to bat first.
