Rajasthan Royals, the winners of the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League are all set to start afresh in the 2025 edition after a decent performance in the previous cycle. They made it to the final of the 2022 edition and overall were pretty consistent.
However, for the 2025 season, they have made some interesting changes to their batting line-up, and one of them is to leave out Jos Buttler. It is a bold move from the franchise and with some new entrants in their batting line-up this season, let's analyze their prowess. We have considered parameters like average, strike-rate, experience and their suitability for the role they will play this season.
Thus, here are the ratings of different players from Rajasthan Royals' batting line-up for IPL 2025.
Top Order Batters
Yashasvi Jaiswal - 9/10
Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the most fearsome openers in world cricket and has been fantastic in IPL too. He has an average of 32.14 and strike-rate of 150.60 which is quite a deadly combination when it is comes to an opener in T20 format. He also has the knack of converting his starts into big scores and has with two hundreds and nine fifties.

Criterion | Data |
---|---|
Runs | 1009 |
Average | 38.8 |
Strike-Rate | 152.6 |
6s/4s | 36/149 |
In terms of experience, he has now quite a lot of it, as the southpaw has been around since 2020 season, and has played across formats for India too. In IPL, his record in powerplay is also brilliant, as evident from the table and it makes him one of ideal openers in IPL and deserves a rating of 9 out of 10.
Sanju Samson - 8/10
Sanju Samson, the RR skipper, is all set to take a permanent opening position in IPL 2025 after his exploits at the international level in that position. In 17 matches as an opener in T20Is for India, he has scored 522 runs at an average of 32.63 and a superb strike-rate of 178.77. He hit three centuries as well and if he can continue that form into IPL, it would bring great results for RR.
In IPL, his numbers as openers are not that great though, with three fifties in 24 innings at a strike-rate of 135.02. However, he is an experienced cricketer now, and the last season was his best where he scored 531 runs. Overall, Samson has always been one of the top Indian batters in IPL and with close to 4500 runs at an average of 30.68 and strike-rate of 138.96, he is a dependable asset. Thus, he gets a rating of 8/10 ahead of IPL 2025.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi - 4/10
The 13-year-old was a surprise pick by RR and is all set to play his first IPL season. He did decently in the U19 Asia Cup recently, and has lot of power which makes him a hot prospect. However, he is still quite raw and will be facing some world-class bowlers for the first time which might create problems for him. So, Vaibhav has talent, but is still to prove himself at the IPL level, and gets a rating of 4/10 ahead of IPL 2025.
Middle Order Batters
Nitish Rana - 6/10
The left-hander is a new entry to RR, but is an experienced campaigner who has even led KKR in the past. Along with the experience, he brings flexibility to the table and has batted from opening position to number six. He is a good player of spin and has shown the ability to perform in crunch situations.
Overall, his average is 28.65 and has a decent strike-rate of 135.04 which makes him a dependable, but not a gun-player who can win them games on a regular basis. Thus, Nitish Rana gets a rating of 6/10 and it would be interesting to see how Rana goes about his business after an abrupt end of his long association with KKR.
Riyan Parag - 7/10
Riyan Parag had a breakthrough IPL season in 2024 where he smashed 573 runs at a magnificent average of 52.09 and strike-rate of 149.21. He has played for India too after those exploits, and is now an experienced player who will be incharge to guide RR in the middle overs.
Riyan's special quality is that he can shift the gears according to the situation of the game, and his adaptability makes him a hot asset. Overall too, his T20 strike-rate is over 140 and thus he deserves a rating of 7/10
Dhurv Jurel - 5/10
Dhruv Jurel was one of the retentions for RR ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction and the franchise seem to have taken a big risk on the player. In the last IPL, Jurel scored 195 runs at an average of 24.37 and strike-rate of 138.29. His overall IPL strike rate though is encouraging with 151.52, but it is because of the short cameos he played in the 2023 season.
Dhruv Jurel In T20s
Criterion | Data |
---|---|
Innings | 33 |
Runs | 451 |
Average | 19.60 |
Strike-Rate | 131.87 |
Overall, his T20 stats do not live upto his billing and IPL price and he would need to score runs consistently and at a good strike-rate to justify his place in middle order for RR. His biggest strength is his temperament and overall, he gets a rating of 5/10.
Finishers
Shimron Hetmyer - 8/10
The left-handed batter from Caribbean has been RR's designated finisher and has performed that role quite well. The position he bats, it is important to take note of his strike-rates rather than his average and with an overall strike-rate of 153.07, he fits perfectly in that lower middle order.
Also, he is most likely to bat at number six, and at that position, Hetmyer has an average of 44.27 and strike-rate of 172.08 in 21 innings in IPL. Thus, it makes him gun-finisher and he has won RR many games from crunch situations with his power-hitting. Thus, he gets 8/10 rating.
Shubham Dubey - 5.5/10
Shubham Dubey is new to the IPL scene, but has a good record as a finisher in domestic circuit. He is a power-hitter just like Hetmyer, and an average of 38.35 with strike-rate of 152.69 makes him an apt player for the lower middle order position. However, he has not proved his credentials at the IPL level, which goes against him and thus, he gets a rating of 5.5.
