Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli has heaped a significant praise on premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Mere days ahead of the IPL 2025 season, Kohli stated that facing Bumrah has been his “toughest challenge” to date.

Both cricketers are currently prepping themselves to represent their respective franchises in the upcoming IPL 2025 season. While Kohli will reprise his role for the RCB straightaway under a new captain, Bumrah will likely be making his return after a couple of weeks into the start of the tournament.

Virat Kohli described Mumbai Indians pacer and national teammate Jasprit Bumrah as the “best bowler in the world” and his “toughest challenge” yet. Kohli also claimed that he enjoys facing Bumrah whenever the two cricketers are at a crossroad. The legendary Indian batter said:

“Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler in the world. Whenever I face him, I'm like 'yeah, it's gonna be fun'. He's the most enjoyable and the toughest challenge for me.”

Virat Kohli recently starred in India’s win at the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE. The 36-year-old punched out match-winning knocks for the ‘Men in Blue’ in the Group A match against Pakistan and in the semifinal clash against Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, is yet to play a single competitive match ever since he sustained a back injury during the fag end of India’s five-match Test tour of Australia earlier this year.

As per reports, Bumrah is set to miss the first three matches of the Mumbai Indians franchise before making his return for IPL 2025.
