IPL is back after a week long break and the race for the playoffs is back again. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will lock horns against Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 18. Ahead of the resumption of the league, the Capitals have dealt a setback as several stars have refused to return to the competition because of the heightened cross-border tensions.
At present, DC are placed 5th on the table with 13 points in 11 matches. Delhi have dealt the most blows as their opener Jake Fraser-McGurk and star bowler Mitchell Starc has also refused to return. Further, DC named Mustafizur Rahman as his replacement. Further, there are reports that Donovan Ferriera is also unlikely to return.
Amid the chaos within the Delhi Capitals' camp, lets look at their probable XI for Gujarat Titans' match.
KL Rahul To Open With Faf Du Plessis
Earlier, there were reports that KL Rahul is all set to open for Delhi Capitals for the remainder of the season. Further, Faf Du Plessis, who was earlier set to miss the remainder of the tournament, has returned to India and will feature against Gujarat Titans. Thus, KL Rahul and Faf will form the new opening pair for DC.
Meanwhile, Abishek Porel will return to his original position and bat at No3. Talking about his stats this year, Porel has amassed 265 runs in 11 innings, which has included a fifty-plus score.
Tristan Stubbs And Axar Patel To Headline Middle-Order
Delhi won't be making much changes in the middle-order as they have Tristan Stubbs returning for them, who will take care in the middle overs. Further, Axar Patel too has recovered from his finger injury and is a certain starter for the game against Gujarat Titans. Meanwhile, batting first, both Ashutosh Sharma and Sameer Rizvi are expected to be in the line-up.
Mustafizur Rahman To Replace Starc Against GT
Delhi Capitals are likely to be without Mukesh Kumar and similar to their abandoned game against Punjab Kings, T Natarajan is all set to play ahead of the right-arm seamer. Meanwhile, Mustafizur Rahman, who has been brought in as JFM's replacement, is all set to take Mitchell Starc's place in the team.
Other than Starc and Mukesh Kumar, it is a similar looking DC line-up as Kuldeep Yadav will take care of the spin unit, while Dushmantha Chameera will be another overseas seamer in the attack. Also, Madhav Tiwari is expected to again make his IPL debut.
