Bowlers who can trouble MI [Source: @iplt20.com]
The El Classico of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will take place between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) On March 23 at the iconic M A Chidambaram Stadium. The two teams have had fierce rivalry with each other and it will resume once again as both the teams will eye their 6th IPL title.
The match is scheduled to take place in Chennai and the Super Kings will be confident enough to pull off a win in their own den. However, it won't be an easy task as MI generally have performed well against their arch-rivals, and will be expected to do that once again.
CSK, however, have 3 crucial bowlers in their ranks, who can single-handedly destroy the MI batting lineup with ease.
1) Noor Ahmad

- Super Kings showed immense faith in Noor Ahmad by buying him for a whopping INR 10 crore. The Chepauk surface is known for assisting the spinners and CSK will field plethora of them, including RUavindra Jadeja and possibly R Ashwin as well.
- However, Noor's mystery is what could become his X-factor against a famed Mumbai Indians lineup. Almost all their batters enjoy pace on the ball, and Noor could be the one to trouble them with his spin skillset on a track which is a paradise for spin bowling.
- The Mumbai Indians batter have played Jadeja and Ashwin plenty of times in IPL, but Noor is still a relatively unknown commodity.
2) Matheesha Pathirana

Average/SR | 6.14/6.86 |
Economy | 5.38 |
- The last time MI and CSK collided in the IPL 2024, Sri Lankan pace wizard, Matheesha Pathirana stole the show as he picked up a 4-wicket haul to destroy the Rohit Sharma led batting unit.
- MI needed 207 runs to win, and despite a stunning century from Rohit Sharma, MI faltered, courtesy of a brilliant 4-fer from the CSK pacer. Once again, he'll be the key bowler against Mumbai since his slingy action is difficult to pick up and batters find it difficult to deal with his raw pace at that slingy angle.
- Pathirana is MSD's trump card, and he is brilliant in the death and could stop the hard-hitting Mumbai batters from scoring truckloads of runs in the slog overs.
3) Anshul Kamboj

- The most underrated buy of IPL 2025 for CSK, Anshul Kamboj could be a surprise wicket-taker against the Mumbai Indians side. The Chepauk surface doesn't require a bowler to bowl at express pace, but rather use different skillset to trouble the batters.
- Anshul Kamboj has that skills as the pacer has impeccable control over his lines and lengths and has an economy of just 7.97 runs per over in T20 cricket. With all the focus on Pathirana, Kamboj can quietly go about his business against the Mumbai Indians batters. Interestingly, Kamboj was a part of the MI squad and has bowled to the likes of Rohit Sharma and others in the nets and must know a trick or two to dismiss them.
