The latest ICC ODI rankings are out and with the Champions Trophy 2025 done and dusted, there have been quite a few changes in the individual rankings. India competed against New Zealand in the finals and skipper Rohit Sharma was at his absolute best as he scored a gritty 76 and helped his side win the Championship.
Rohit moves up in rankings
As a result of his performance, the India captain witnesses a surge in the ODI rankings and has gone up two places to number 3, just behind Pakistan's Babar Azam and his teammate, Shubman Gill, who occupies the top spot.
The opening batter, Rohit had an average tournament up until the finale, however, he stood tall in a tricky run-chase and courtesy of his knock, India captured their third Champions Trophy title.
Interestingly, Rohit went down in the rankings after the group stage failures, but he went up after a stellar performance in the finals. However, his teammate, Virat Kohli witnessed a downfall in rankings.
Virat Kohli goes down in rankings
Virat Kohli had an excellent Champions Trophy up until the finale, but India's number 3 couldn't deliver the goods in the run-chase and departed for just 1 as Michael Bracewell trapped him lbw.
The star batter dropped down a place to number 5, with the Proteas batter, Heinrich Klaasen going up at number 4. Kohli finished the tournament as India's second-highest run-getter and missed out on the Player of the Tournament award as well.
