The IPL 2025 mega auctions has gathered momentum and created a great buzz among the IPL fans. In the latest development, the five-time IPL champions swooped up the Afghan youngster Noor Ahmad.
Defeating their arch rivals MI in a bidding-war, CSK secured the services of Noor Ahmad for INR 10 Cr.
Bidding War Between MI and CSK
The introduction of Noor Ahmad in the IPL 2025 Mega auction induced a bidding war between two of the biggest rivals in the league - Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings. However, CSK ultimately secured the services of the Afghan prodigy for INR 5 Cr.
Notably, Noor Ahmad was a part of the Gujarat Titans during the IPL 2024. They had RTM available when the auction of Noor Ahmad took place.
GT Does Not Use The RTM On Noor Ahmad
When asked whether GT will use the RTM, they agreed to it. The auctioneer when asked CSK for their price of their latest recruit, they doubled up Noor's auction price and demanded INR 10 Cr for him. The price looked out of GT's budget and they did not use their second RTM on him.
Thus the Chennai Super Kings were able to secure the services of the Afghan left-arm wrist spinner for INR 10 Cr.
CSK Stress On Building A Strong Spin Contingent
Notably, CSK have already bought Ravichandran Ashwin. They also have retained Ravindra Jadeja from IPL 2024. Add to this their newest recruit, Noor Ahmad. With these three players, the CSK squad now boasts of a strong spin department that might be ideal keeping in mind their home conditions.
