On Sunday, Galle Marvels will clash with Kandy Falcons for the afternoon game of the double header. The highly anticipated clash will go on floors from 3.00 PM IST at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

After a strong start to the Lanka Premier League 2024 season, Galle Marvels suffered their first defeat against Jaffna Kings on Friday. Tim Seifert’s excellent century propelled them to a 187-run finish in the first innings.
However, the bowlers’ expensive spells cost them the game. Isuru Udana Sahan Arachchige was taken to cleaners by Rilee Rossouw before Azmatullah Omarzai’s epic 35 runs knocked off just 13 deliveries and guided Kings to a successful chase with two balls to spare.
That being said, Galle Marvels didn’t necessarily perform badly. They failed to hold the nerves towards the end and allowed a lot of freebies in the death, which spoiled the game. Still, they will definitely start on the front foot against the Falcons.
Kandy Falcons
Meanwhile, after winning the tournament opener against the Dambulla Strikers, the Kandy Falcons lost two games on the trot against the Colombo Strikers.
In a final over thriller, the Falcons fell short of just 2 runs in the 200-run chase. Andrew Fletcher and Mohammad Haris gave a dream start with a 95-run partnership before Mendis and Mathews contributed with over 30 runs.
However, with 20 needed off the final over, Angelo Mathews fought till the last breath with a couple of sixes and a boundary. But with 3 needed off the final ball, Mathews lost his wicket, thus resulting in a heartbreaking loss.
Regardless, Falcons showed great spirit and can continue the momentum to give a good fight to Marvels on Sunday.
