In a significant development, Jos Buttler has stepped down as England's white-ball captain following the team's abysmal performance in the ICC Champions Trophy. Notably, Buttler led England to their first-ever T20 World Cup title; however, he has never been able to replicate a similar success since then.

Buttler Steps Down From Captaincy Before ENG vs SA Clash

England have had a torrid run in the ongoing Champions Trophy, incurring consecutive defeats in the tournament. Ahead of the mega clash against South Africa, Buttler resigned from his role.

He conveyed his decision during the pre-match press conference, confirming that the South Africa encounter would be his final appearance as England's white-ball skipper in international cricket.

Jos Buttler's Captaincy Record In International Cricket

Jos Buttler was appointed as England's white-ball captain after the World Cup winning skipper Eoin Morgan announced his retirement. The swashbuckling English batter has led England in 44 ODIs, managing only eighteen wins. England have been more of a failed ODI team in his tenure, losing 25 out of these games.

Talking about the T20 Internationals, Buttler has captained England in 51 matches, out of which England have won 26 while losing 22. The T20 World Cup triumph is the most decorated feather in his crown, as he has been nothing short of mediocre as a skipper after that.
