Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach Rahul Dravid was seen arriving at the team’s training venue in an electric wheelchair. A video of him moving around in the motorised wheelchair quickly went viral, leaving fans curious about his injury.
Despite being in discomfort, Dravid remained focused on overseeing the team’s preparations for the upcoming IPL 2025 season, which is set to start on March 22.
How Did Rahul Dravid Get Injured?
The former Indian captain suffered an injury while playing in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Group III league semifinal for Vijaya Cricket Club alongside his 16-year-old son, Anvay. He started feeling discomfort early in his innings but continued to bat.
However, in the 18th over, while attempting a run, he pulled a calf muscle and collapsed in pain. His teammates had to help him off the field.
Appointed as RR’s head coach before the IPL 2025 mega auction, Dravid’s presence has already boosted the team’s confidence. The former India captain and head coach, who led Team India to their T20 World Cup victory in 2024, brings immense experience and tactical knowledge.
He will be working closely with captain Sanju Samson and Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara to shape RR’s campaign this season.
Rajasthan Royals will kick off their IPL 2025 season against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday, March 23.
