The 2025 IPL mega-auction will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Talking about Chennai Super Kings, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side have retained five players and already spent 65 crores.

The five-time winners need to fill 20 more spots in 55 crores and would look to target a few former players. Meanwhile, a few are likely to go unsold, and this article will precisely talk about that. It will shed light on three former CSK players who are likely to go unsold in the mega-auction.

1. Deepak Chahar

CSK's star seamer Chahar, who was once touted to go down in history as one of the greats to play for the Men in Yellow, sadly has a tryst with injury.

Chahar missed the entire 2022 season with an injury and played just 18 games across the last two seasons. Further, in IPL 2024, he took just five wickets in eight matches. Thus, he is likely to go unsold as CSK have shown enough faith in him, but the right-arm seamer has failed to repaid it back.

2. Moeen Ali

Age is one of the reasons behind Ali's release, as he is 37 years old. Further, Ali has also announced international retirement. More than the bat, Ali is known to help CSK with the ball, but he took just two wickets last season.

Thus, it is likely that Ali will go unsold, and no team will show interest in him at the auction table.

3. Ajinkya Rahane

It is worth noting that Rahane went unsold in the first round in 2023 auction, but was picked by CSK in the accelerated round. Further, Rahane has done well for the Kings in the last two seasons, but the game has evolved and Rahane has failed to match the speed.

Also, Rahane has a strike-rate of just 135, which is a cause of concern for the franchises.
