The Indian team has announced its squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. While there was much discussion regarding the availability of key players like Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav for the tournament, the announcement of the squad has revealed that both stars will be part of the team that travels for the tournament.

While there were a few surprises in the squad announced, in this article, we will take a look at three mistakes that the selection committee of India headed by Ajit Agarkar might have committed.

India's Champions Trophy Squad 2025

Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (WK), KL Rahul (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh

3. Inclusion Of Ravindra Jadeja

India have announced Ravindra Jadeja as a part of the Champions Trophy 2025 squad. While Jadeja has a lot of experience and has been a key part of the India set-up for a long time, in recent times his batting has been more suitable for the most extended format of the game. Besides with Axar Patel and Washington Sundar on the side, the inclusion of Jadeja only adds to the crowd of similar sorts of players. Instead of Jadeja, India could have thought of Varun Chakarvarthy, who could have been a good addition to the side as an additional spinner and could also have added variation to the type of attack.

2. Exclusion of Nitish Kumar Reddy

Nitish Reddy proved himself as a batter in the middle-order under pressure. He batted well in the Test in Australia and also bowled a few effective overs with the ball. Nitish Reddy could not only have added dynamism to the batting line-up but could also have brought about depth in the bowling attack. Once again it is mentionable that India have gone for three spin-bowling all-rounders. Instead, they could have taken one of them as a travelling reserve while adding Nitish Reddy to the main squad.

1. Going With Arshdeep Singh

India will be playing their matches in the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. The wickets in Dubai are known to favour the spinners more than the pacers. They have three designated pacers in the squad along with four spin bowling options. Among the spin bowling options it is given that one all-rounder and Kuldeep Yadav will be part of the playing XI.

Besides this, it is expected that Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah will be playing in the XI as the leading pacers. With Hardik Pandya as the third pacer, the pace department looks sorted. From the current squad, it seems that Arshdeep Singh will be there in the playing XI. However, given that some of the wickets might favour the spinners a bit too much an extra spinning option like that of Varun Chakravarthy or Yuzvendra Chahal could have been a good inclusion.
