On Saturday, India announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The announcement took more than two hours than the scheduled time. The squad was filled with surprises as several stars earned their deserved call-ups, while a few like Mohammed Siraj failed to make it to the cut.
Further, the tournament is returning after a massive eight years, and this article will shed light on three major changes in India's squad from the last ODI series that they played against Sri Lanka.
1. Shivam Dube
2024 was the year for Dube as he shone for CSK in IPL 2024. Further, he was selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he shone in the finals. Also, Dube was a part of the Sri Lanka tour in July 2024, but he couldn't perform there.
Thus, Dube is one name that has not been a part of India's Champions Trophy 2025 squad.
2. Riyan Parag
Another major missing from the squad is Riyan Parag. The right-arm all-rounder made his India debut in that series and also did well with the ball when he took a three-wicket haul in a match. Thus, Parag was in contention, but he couldn't find a place in the 2025 Champions Trophy 2025 squad.
3. Mohammed Siraj
The most shocking of them all has been Mohammed Siraj. The right-arm seamer hasn't looked his best in the past year. He went for runs in the BGT and had a poor Sri Lanka series as well when he took just three wickets and averaged 52 with the ball.
