Finally after a lot of speculations, India have announced their squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. As expected, Rohit Sharma will lead the team and Jasprit Bumrah, who was doubtful for the event has been included in the squad. The tournament still has a month to start and Bumrah has ample time to regain his match-fitness.

The pacer sustained a back injury during the 5th Test at SCG Vs Australia and didn't bowl in the second innings of the Test match. Earlier, reports added that Bumrah has been asked to take bed rest, however, it seems the pacer is fit enough to be included in the squad.

Also, Mohammad Shami makes his long-awaited return in the Indian white-ball squad. He last played for India during the 2023 World Cup final and since then has been out with an Achilles' heel injury. The surprising part was the exclusion of Mohammed Siraj, which has raised quite a few eyebrows.

India squad for Champions Trophy 2025

Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (WK), KL Rahul (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh

As expected, Rohit Sharma will lead the team, and Shubman Gill has been appointed as the vice captain of the side. The batting order remains the same from the 2023 World Cup with Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul forming a brilliant middle-order.

For India, the return of Bumrah is a major boon as the entire management sweated hard on his fitness. However, as per Chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, Bumrah won't play the ODI series against England, and in his place, Harshit Rana has been included.

Why no Siraj in the Indian team?

India made a big call by dropping Mohammed Siraj from the side. The player had an underwhelming 2024 across formats and as a result, the management took a harsh call by dropping the ace bowler.
