Melbourne Renegades number three batter Jake Fraser-McGurk made lightwork of Brisbane Heat’s monumental total in match 38 of the BBL 2024-25 season at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. Chasing 197, Fraser-McGurk unfurled his career-best T20 performance through a six-laden knock.

Here’s the timeline of how Renegades vs Heat panned out in Melbourne:

Renegades vs Heat Highlights: Jack Wood Gets Heat Off To A Flier

Jack Wood got Brisbane Heat off to a flier against Melbourne Renegades after being invited to bat first. The right-handed opening batter shared 62 runs with partner Nathan McSweeney (29 off 26), and another 63 runs with number three Matt Renshaw (40 off 22).

While Adam Zampa broke the opening partnership with the wicket of McSweeney, left-arm spinner Callum Stow (2-31) halted Heat’s rampage with the quick wickets of well-set Wood and Renshaw both in the 13th over of the innings.

Renegades vs Heat Highlights: Tom Alsop Anchors Heat To 196

Tom Alsop anchored the rest of the Brisbane Heat innings with a calculated 26-ball 42*. The wicketkeeper-batter launched three sixes and a boundary during his 31-run partnership with Daniel Drew (16 off 14) and an unbeaten 37-run one with Max Bryant (12* off 5) to take the visitors to a competitive 196-4 from 20 overs.

For the Renegades, Adam Zampa had Drew out stumped in the slog overs to claim figures of 2-29 in his tight four-over spell.

Renegades vs Heat Highlights: Josh Brown Sets Renegades Chase Off With 11-Ball 32

Chasing 197, Melbourne Renegades lost opener Tawanda Muyeye for just three in the third over of the innings to Michael Neser. Muyeye’s opening partner Josh Brown, on the other hand, set Renegades’ chase off with an explosive 11-ball 32 to make the most of the powerplay overs.

The cricketer launched three sixes and three boundaries in his top-order cameo before being caught at the boundary ropes by Nathan McSweeney at 45-2.

Renegades vs Heat Highlights: Fraser-McGurk Misses Century In Big Renegades Win

Jake Fraser-McGurk at number three sustained Josh Brown’s early momentum with a sequence of five boundaries and eight towering sixes. Despite constantly losing partners from the other end to Spencer Johnson (2-41), Michael Neser (2-38) and Paul Walter (2-23), Fraser-McGurk went on to compile his career-best T20 score of 95 runs from just 46 balls.

The attacking top-order batter missed out a well-deserved century by getting holed out near the long-off boundary, before captain Will Sutherland (13 off 6) and Fergus O'Neill (16* off 6) shrugged off the remaining runs with three wickets and two overs to spare.
