India will face England in the fifth and final T20I of the five-match series at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (February 2). With the series already secured at 3-1, Men in Blue will look to finish strong, while England will aim to play for pride in the final encounter.

The hosts have displayed exceptional form throughout the series, winning the fourth T20I at Pune by 15 runs to seal the series. In that match, India posted a competitive total of 181 runs, with significant contribution from Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube. The duo’s partnership anchored the innings and set a challenging target for England.

Chasing 182, England openers Ben Duckett and Phil Salt started well but the middle-order struggled against India's spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakravarthy. Harshit Rana made his debut as concussion-sub in place of Shivam Dube. This decision turned out in India's favour as he was brilliant with the ball and dismantled the English batting lineup.

With the series outcome already decided, England will play the final match for pride, hoping to end their T20I campaign on a positive note. So ahead of the fifth T20I, in this article, let's take a look at the head-to-head records between both the teams.

IND vs ENG: What Happened When They Last Played?

The last time India faced England in the T20I match was in the fourth match of the ongoing series on January 31, 2025 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. Talking about the match, England won the toss and invited India to bat first. Saqib Mahmood’s fiery opening spell reduced the visitors to a precarious 12/3. However, crucial half-centuries from Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya powered India to a competitive total of 181.

Despite England’s promising start in the chase by Ben Duckett and Phil Salt, Indian bowlers turned the game around, with debutant Harshit Rana making a significant impact as a concussion substitute. The speedster struck immediately and dismissed Liam Livingstone to further dent England’s hopes. Harry Brook fought valiantly, scoring a rapid fifty, but was removed by Varun Chakravarthy.

Overton provided late resistance, keeping England’s hopes alive. However, Rana sealed the match in India’s favour and ensured a hard-fought victory for the ‘Men in Blue.’
