The Champions Trophy 2025 is just around the corner and all the teams have finalised their squads for the upcoming mega event. There are 3 definite favourites for the Champions Trophy and these teams are India, Pakistan and Australia. India and Pakistan know the Asian conditions at the back of their hands and Australia can never be taken lightly in ICC matches.

The team has a great blend of youth and experience, however, they also have injury concerns which could potentially disrupt their campaign. Star all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out with an injury and Pat Cummins is also not 100% fit at the moment. If match-winners of Australia do get ruled out, the team has solid replacements lined up and here they are.

3) Mitchell Owen

The star of the Big Bash League 2024-25, the Hobart Hurricanes player took the league by storm as he smashed truckloads of runs and also smacked a century in the finals against Sydney Thunder.

Australia nowadays embodies an attacking style of cricket and Owen has that inside him. He is a naturally attacking player and will fit into the Australian setup if the selectors decide to bring him as Mitch Marsh's replacement.

2) Sean Abbott

Australia already have Mitch Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Ellis and Josh Hazlewood in the team. However, captain Cummins is nursing an injury and is doubtful for the Champions Trophy. In that case, the team can bring in Sean Abbott, who already has plenty of experience playing for the Aussies.

In 26 ODIs, the right-arm pacer has bagged 29 wickets, and could be a useful replacement if one of the pacer gets injured ahead or during the tournament.

1) Cooper Connolly

Australia have gone in with plethora of all-rounders in the side and if one of their key all-rounders in Glenn Maxwell or Marcus Stoinis get injured, Perth Scorchers star, Cooper Connolly could come in as the perfect replacement. He can be effective on slow surfaces as he bowls quality left-arm orthodox spin, and is also oozing with confidence after smashing 351 runs in 10 matches and finishing as the third leading run-scorer in BBL 2024-25.
