Harshit Rana, the promising fast bowler, made his T20I debut for India during the fourth T20I against England held in Pune. He came in as concussion substitute for Shivam Dube who was hit on the head by a bouncer bowled by Jamie Overton, becoming the only 7th player to do so.
India took on England in the fourth T20I of the five-game series at Pune. While the men in blue batted first, Saqib Mahmood wrecked in the powerplay. His second over consisted of three wickets of Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav without conceding a run.
However, Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube rescued the team with sensational 30 odd balls fifties. Their carnage helped India post a total of 181 runs.
Harshit Rana makes rare debut for India
That being said, Shivam Dube got badly injured during the first inning. A feisty bouncer by Jamie Overton hit him straight on the helmet before he got run out on the final delivery.
Moreover, in the second inning, Dube didn’t take the field due to a concussion as India fielded fast bowler Harshit Rana as a concussion substitute. This marked Rana’s debut for India in the T20I format under bizarre circumstances as he entered a rare list of substitutes.
