Rajasthan Royals are struggling in IPL 2025 and are on course of virtually being knockout of the ongoing tournament. Notably, the Royals have lost six games out of seven matches and are placed 8th on the table with four points. One of the biggest disappointment for Rajasthan in this edition has been Riyan Parag's form. 

Notably, Parag was retained for 14 crores ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction and talking about his performance in IPL 2025, Parag has scored just 234 runs in nine games averaging 29.25. Further, Riyan is still searching for his first fifty of the season. In his latest appearance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Parag was tasked with the responsibility to pull off a great run-chase, but the right-hand batter failed and returned to the pavilion for a low score of 22 (10), which featured two fours and two sixes. 

Meanwhile, this article will shed light on three reasons why Parag has been a flop in this edition. 

1. Captaincy Pressure

Rajasthan were dealt with heavy blow ahead of the start of the IPL 2025 as regular skipper Sanju Samson failed to recover in time from his finger injury and played just as a batter for the first three matches. It led to Riyan Parag leading the team and with two defeats in the first two matches, it led to criticism and put pressure on Riyan. 

Notably, it was Parag's first experience of leading a side in the IPL and it looks like that he got under that pressure of leadership. Further, the impact of that pressure was also seen on his fielding as usually, Parag is a great fielder, but he has dropped several catches in the tournament. 2.Pressure Of Price Tag

Prior to IPL 2025, Parag used to play just as a batter and fought hard to cement his place in the team, irrespective of outside noise. However, for the current season, Parag was retained for 14 crores and it is usually seen that several players in the past have struggled under the heavy price tag.

Similar situation occurred in the past with Ishan Kishan and another player who is struggling for runs is Venkatesh Iyer this season as he was bought for big bucks. Notably, with the pressure of the price tag, there comes online trolling and several criticism, which draws players' focus from batting to outside noise, which has possibly occurred with Riyan Parag.

3. Attitude Issues

Riyan Parag has some attitude issues and it is not a hidden fact from the world. Even in IPL 2025, Parag faced fans' heat on numerous occasions and one that stood out the most was when he flipped groundsman's phone in the air during a post-match interaction. 

Even in the past, Parag has displayed his attitude on the field and it has not gone well with the fans. Even in the recently concluded match against Rajasthan Royals, Parag got out in an ugly manner where he went for a no-look slog and lost his wicket during a crucial run-chase.
