The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction is just around the corner, and all ten teams will need to submit their final retention list by November 15. The retentions allow teams to release the unwanted players, so that on the auction table, they can upgrade their squad. In the upcoming mini auction, as the trend often says, teams will also keep an eye on quality all-rounders to bolster the squad.

Several high-profile all-rounders will be in demand as IPL franchises will be waiting to present their lucrative contracts. In this article, we analyse the top all-rounders who are available in the auction and the teams that could target them.

1) Matthew Short

• The Australian all-rounder, Matthew Short has been in exceptional form in 2025 and could be in high-demand during the IPL mini auction. Several teams are craving for a quality all-round player and Short fits the bill perfectly. He can perform multiple roles - can open the batting, can bat in the middle order, and can also chip in with the ball for his side.

• He is an experienced T20 campaigner and the stats tell the story. He has an impeccable strike rate and has also churned out wickets with his off-break bowling.

Teams that could target Short

• Punjab Kings need a solid middle-order batter, and he already knows the setup since he was a part of the team before. Apart from PBKS, RCB could also do wonders if they get him.
• The defending champions might release Liam Livingstone, and they could go after a like-to-like replacement.

2) Cameron Green

The Aussie was a hot commodity when he played for the Mumbai Indians and RCB, but an unfortunate injury derailed his IPL journey after the 2024 season. He was an important core member of the RCB side, but they had to release him due to the back injury he sustained. However, the Australian star is now fit and is raring to showcase his skills once again.

• 707 runs with a strike rate of 153 define Green’s IPL journey. He was instrumental in taking MI to the playoffs in the 2023 season, and was a key member of the RCB squad in 2024. Moreover, apart from his aggressive batting skills, Green also has 16 wickets to his name.

Teams that could run after Green

• Green will be in demand due to his previous experience in the IPL. There were rumors that CSK might be tempted to go after him since he could bat at number 5, or 6 for them and can play the role of a finisher. Rajasthan Royals can also do wonders with him since they might release Shimron Hetmyer and might need a proven finisher at 6.

3) Michael Bracewell

Moving away from an Aussie, the focus now shifts towards a Kiwi player - Michael Bracewell. In recent times, he has done well for the New Zealand side, and just like Green and Short, he has played in the IPL before and teams know his capabilities.

• An experienced campaigner in T20s, Bracewell has played 200 matches in this format, and has 3444 runs to showcase. Moreover, he has taken 94 wickets, adding to his batting prowess. Moreover, he has already performed well in India, and knows the conditions at the back of his hands.

• RCB could be after their former player, since Livingstone might leave, and they could go after a like-for-like replacement. He also fits perfectly for the Punjab Kings. They need someone who can finish off the matches alongside Nehal Wadhera, and the team also needs a quality spin-bowling all-rounder in their ranks.
