On Monday, November 25, the much-awaited IPL 2025 mega auction came to an end, with every franchise completing the minimum requirement for their squads. Talking about Delhi Capitals, they did a great job at the auction table and have a squad of 23 players, buying 19 players in the two-day event.

While DC bought several great players and got a few steals, there were a few blunders that were unanswered. Thus, this article will shed light on the three worst buys by DC in the IPL auction.

1. Faf Du Plessis - (2 crores)

Delhi Capitals bought Du Plessis at his base price of 2 crore. However, it seems to be an unwanted pick, as they have quality openers in the form of Jake Fraser-McGurk and KL Rahul.

Thus, wasting an overseas slot for a 40-year-old makes no sense despite Du Plessis amassing 438 runs.

2. Harry Brook

While many are considering Brook to be a great buy by DC for 6.25 crores, Harry has been inconsistent in the shortest format of the game.

Talking about his IPL stats, he was supposed to feature for DC in IPL 2024 but pulled out of the tournament and scored just 190 runs in 11 matches, which included a century.

3. Dushmantha Chameera

Delhi Capitals were not good with their overseas buys on day 2 of the auction as they bought Chameera for 75 lakhs. His tryst with injuries is one of the reasons why DC could have looked for other options in the auction.

Also, DC have more or less sorted their overseas options and Chameera does not seem to be in the scheme of things.
