In a match that lasted for about three days to finish, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Final between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) last evening at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad created history on the digital platform. Jio, who aired IPL 2023 for free on their streaming platform JioCinema after purchasing digital rights, have seen their viewership shoot past the roof this season.

The final last evening drew a concurrent viewership of 3.2 crore, which is a world record-breaking the previous record of 2.53 crore held by Hotstar, which happened during the ICC World Cup 2019 in a semi-final encounter between India and New Zealand.

As reported by News18, a peak viewership of 32 million was hit when Titans' Sai Sudharsan, was batting on 96 in the first innings of the match.

GT ended up scoring a mammoth 214 runs, however, with rain interruptions, the target was reduced to 171 for CSK in 15 overs, via the DLS method.  CSK ended up chasing down the target thanks to a cameo from Ravindra Jadeja, that helped the franchise to their fifth IPL title.

Several other records on the field were also broken, as CSK captain Dhoni became the first player to feature in 250 IPL matches. GT's 214 is the highest-ever total in an IPL final ever, since its inception in 2008.
