South Africa are the perennial chokers of world cricket and have constantly encountered heartbreaks in the ICC tournaments despite quality arsenal at their disposal. They tend to falter in the knockout games, and in the World Cup 2023 as well, they lost the semifinal to Australia despite playing some quality cricket throughout the competition.
In the previous edition of the T20 World Cup as well, they were knocked out by Netherlands after playing some brilliant cricket and they would be looking to shed that tendency this time around, to lift their maiden title.

They have five pacers - Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee and Ottinel Baartman and expect the last one, all other pacers have been impressive on the international stage.

Nortje was injured for a long time and made his comeback in IPL for Delhi Capitals, but just could not get his rhythm going, and was way too expensive.
Rabada, on the other hand, has been blowing hot and cold in T20 format for quite a sometime now, he bowls well in the Powerplay, but his death-bowling has not been that effective. So, if both these bowlers don't fire in the World Cup, South Africa can get into trouble.
Lack Of A Proper Batting All-Rounder
South Africa have traditionally produced plenty of quality all-rounders but in recent times, apart from Marco Jansen, not many have come forward and delivered on the international stage.
