When Will Pakistan Announce Squad For T20 World Cup 2024? Date Revealed
Babar Azam is set to continue as PAK skipper at T20 World Cup 2024 (PCB)
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to announce Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. Teams like India, Australia, England and South Africa among others had already unveiled their squads earlier this month, i.e., prior to ICC’s cut-off date.
The PCB selection committee, however, has revealed their 18-player groups for the series in Ireland and England. With less than two weeks left for the 2024 T20 World Cup, one can expect PCB to announce their tournament squad during the earlier stages of Pakistan’s series in England.
PCB to announce T20 World Cup on this date
The Pakistan cricket team is currently in England for a four-match T20I series as part of their 2024 T20 World Cup preparations. As per recent reports, the PCB selection committee will likely be announcing Pakistan’s World Cup squad a day after the first T20I match against England, i.e., on May 23.
Earlier this month, the Pakistan team registered a 2-1 series win over Ireland at the latter’s home ground. A similar ‘Men in Green’ squad was composed for their subsequent series against England.
Babar Azam, who was reinstated as Pakistan’s T20I captain a couple of months ago, will be expected to lead his national side at the T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and USA.
As of now, the Pakistan players are prepping themselves for the series-opening first T20I match against England. The much-awaited contest will be staged on May 22 at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds. Pakistan’s T20 World Cup quest, meanwhile, will commence on June 6 with a Group A match against USA.
