In a significant development, Pakistan Cricket Board has named a robust 17-man squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.

In a dramatic move, the selectors have recalled Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim into the national setup after the duo's impressive run in the PSL 2024.

Babar Azam, who recently replaced Shaheen Afridi as Pakistan’s white-ball captain, will lead the side in this series.

His former opening partner Mohammad Rizwan has been picked as the wicket-keeper alongside swashbuckling middle-order batter Azam Khan.

Imad, who enjoyed stellar success for Islamabad United in the PSL 2024, adds incredible all-round value to the squad.

Saim Ayub, who played some blazing knocks for Peshawar Zalmi in the lucrative league, also finds a place in the side along with Multan Sultans’ prominent batter Usman Khan.

Shaheen Afridi will lead the pace attack alongside Abbas Afridi, Amir, Naseem Shah and Zaman Khan.

Regarding Amir and Imad's selection, selection committee member and senior team manager Wahab Riaz said,

"The decision to include Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir was a straightforward one, given their availability for selection and considering Haris Rauf's injury and Mohammad Nawaz's current form. Both Amir and Imad possess undeniable match-winning capabilities, and we trust they will consistently deliver strong performances to bolster the team's objectives."
