England kept the ODI series against Australia alive by winning the fourth match by a convincing margin of 186 runs. After losing the first two games, the home team made a brilliant comeback in the series, which now boils down to the final game at Bristol.
Harry Brook and Livingstone took England to a big total
In the fourth match of the series, the Harry Brook-led side batted first and posted a massive total of 312 runs on the board. The skipper again led the team from the front after a brilliant Hundred in the previous game. Brook scored 87 off 58 balls in this match, providing dynamism and solidity to the middle order.
Besides the skipper, Ben Duckett (63 off 62 balls) played a steady hand to set up the platform for the team. But Liam Livingstone's blinder of 62 from 27 deliveries boosted the momentum of the innings and powered England to a 300-plus total.
Australia collapsed after a good start
A lot depended on the two Australian openers, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, for the visitors to chase down the big target. The duo got off to a blazing start and posted 68 runs in just 8.3 overs.
Brydon Carse struck the first blow to the Aussies at this stage. On the fourth delivery of the ninth over, Carse bowled a pitched-up delivery at the middle and leg stump. Head cleared his front leg and swung his back across the line, trying to clear the fence on the leg side. However, he missed the ball completely, which shattered the furniture behind the batter. Head had to walk back to the hut at a personal score of 34 from 23 deliveries.
The Aussies tried to steady themselves after this and were doing nicely at 91 for 3 in the 15th over of the innings. However, a collapse was triggered after this, and they were bundled out for 126 in the 25th over.
