On Friday, the BCCI Men's selection panel will announce India's squad for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan. The Afghans will tour India to play three T20Is against the host nation in Mohali, Indore and Bengaluru.

As per emerging reports, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav will be unavailable for selection, as they are yet to recover from their respective injuries. So, there are two possibilities- India will either bring Rohit Sharma back in T20Is in the lead-up to the World Cup or trust a youngster in someone like Shubman Gill to lead the side, at least in this series.

However, considering Rohit's recent exploits in South Africa, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel might name him the captain for this series. On the contrary, Virat Kohli's place in the T20I squad has been under scanner, as the talismanic Indian batter is reported to miss out on

Meanwhile, the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, and Shivam Dube will likely retain their place in the squad. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who featured in both Test matches against South Africa, could be rested for the Afghanistan T20Is.

Promising bowler Ravi Bishnoi will lead the spin department alongside Kuldeep Yadav, while Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson will be picked as the keeper-batters.

In the absence of Bumrah and Siraj, Arshdeep Singh is the front-runner to lead India's pace attack alongside Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan.
