In a remarkable achievement, veteran Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah has surpassed Shane Warne to record the second-most wickets by an overseas bowler in Cape Town. Bumrah, who scalped six wickets to cause South Africa's turmoil in the game, took his tally to 18 wickets at Newlands to attain this milestone.

Most wickets as away bowler in Cape Town

  • Colin Blythe- 25 wickets in 4 matches
  • Jasprit Bumrah- 18 wickets in 3 matches
  • Shane Warne- 17 wickets in 3 matches
  • James Anderson- 16 wickets in 3 matches
  • John Briggs- 15 wickets in 1 match

In response to India's first innings total of 153 runs, South Africa had a mini collapse, losing Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs after a steady start.

As soon as they resumed their second innings on day 2, Bumrah drew the fourth blood for India, removing David Bedingham for 11 in the first over.

Despite Markram's valiant hundred, the Proteas couldn't set a decent target, being bowled out for 176. Bumrah emerged as India's wrecker-in-chief with the ball, scalping six wickets for 61 runs. Meanwhile, Mukesh Kumar took two wickets, with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna sharing the remaining two.
