The Hundred 2024 season concluded spectacularly on Sunday, showcasing thrilling innings and revealing impressive new talents. Sam Billings and the Oval Invincibles skillfully defended their champion title, securing victory for the second consecutive year.

But now, a bigger picture takes the centre stage as England attempts to moves on to their 'next-gen'.

With the departure of head coach Matthew Mott, England is poised to make some bold decisions and take further risks. And what could be more exciting than the upcoming home tour of Australia, a crucial event to test some players in.

On that note, let's take a look at four uncapped players of England from The Hundred that can be picked for the upcoming season:

1) Oval Invincibles' Jordan Cox

Oval Invincibles' batter Jordan Cox has amassed 214 runs from seven matches at a strike rate of 214 and his highest score of 61*. Although he was ruled out of the 2023 Hundred edition, he was the competition's leading run scorer until then.

Once again, in the 2024 season, he has delivered top-class performances with the bat, and he's one of the best fielders in the game. His potential as a deal among uncapped players is undeniable.

2) Trent Rockets' John Turner

John Turner, who was cited by many, including Rob Key and his team, as one of the quicks with pace, has played very few games.

Turner's performance in The Hundred underlined his potential just as much as the cause for concern. His debut for the Trent Rockets was horrendous, and he was removed from the attack without a single legal delivery after bowling two consecutive beamers. Since then, though, he has shown his pace and his skill to a great degree. England should at least consider him for their squad, even if it's just as a reserve player.

He has scalped five wickets from 4 matches, and his best bowling figures are 3-24.

3) Oval Invincibles' Nathan Sowter

As England faces the challenge of replacing leg-spinner Adil Rashid, Nathan Sowter has emerged as a reliable wrist-spinner in domestic cricket.

Born in New South Wales, Sowter has steadily built his reputation, transitioning from Middlesex to Durham after uncertainty about his career. At 31, he has been impressive this season, taking seven wickets in 9 matches at an economy rate of 7.14, with a best bowling figure of 2-12.

While England's search for a quality leg-spinner continues, Sowter stands out as a strong candidate, offering a dependable option in the absence of Rashid.

4) Birmingham Phoenix' Jacob Bethell

Jacob Bethell has been the other standout performer in The Hundred, carrying good form from the T20 Blast. He has managed 166 runs at 33.20, with a strike rate of 132.80.

His finesse in the finisher role was seen to great effect during an unbeaten 46 off 29 balls against Trent Rockets. His sharp batting, exceptional fielding, and useful off-spin make him one of the most exciting prospects England has in their midst, offering both strength and strategic acumen.
