The Indian Premier League 2024 ended with the Kolkata Knight Riders being crowned the champions for the third time in the history of the league. With the 18th season of the tournament coming up, the teams will be gearing up to build a core for the upcoming two to three years. As it is slated that a mega auction will take place, there will be a lot of change in the dynamics and compositions of the teams.

Ahead of IPL 2025, we will see a lot of new names going under the hammer. While there will be some of the biggest overseas names in the auction, there will also be some Indian talents that the franchises will look to hunt down in the event. However, in this article, we will look at three such overseas players who might turn out to be the most expensive buys in IPL 2025 mega auction.

3. Mitchell Starc

The Australian speedster was bought for a record breaking INR 24.75 CR by KKR ahead of the IPL 2024. Mitchell Starc did not have a great start to the season, but by the time the play-offs of the tournament arrived, the Aussie bowler showed his class. In the last two games he picked up five wickets and played a crucial role in KKR winning the trophy.

Looking at his experience and affinity of performing in the important games, Starc might be a hot commodity during the IPL 2025 auction.

2. Heinrich Klaasen

With the way Travis Head has performed for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, there are chances that the franchise will be looking to retain the Australian batter. Pat Cummins being the captain who has taken them to the final in the last season will also be retained in all probabilities. This indicates that Heinrich Klaasen, one of the most destructive batters in the current T20 scenario will be released by the franchise. If he comes into the auction, then a lot of the franchises will be looking to get him for their team. There are chances that SRH might also use the RTM (Right To Match) card to bring him back to their franchise.

1.Glenn Maxwell

After his arrival in RCB in 2020, Glenn Maxwell delivered two outstanding seasons for the franchise. However, IPL 2024 was a terrible season for the Australian all-rounder. With the English all-rounder, Will Jacks delivering under pressure for the franchise in IPL 2024, they might choose to retain him ahead of the next season. So, there are chances that Glenn Maxwell will be put on auction and given his abilities and potential he could be one of the most expensive buys.
