3 Teams That Can Target Shivam Dube For Next Season If CSK Release Him After IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings have been in pretty inconsistent form this season with an early crashing out from the playoffs race and a season-long slump that saw them convert only 3 wins out of 13 games. Reflecting the slump, one of CSK's star batters Shivam Dube also struggled throughout the season.

As MS Dhoni-led yellow camp eyes for a comeback next year, they would like to get a revamp for their team and Shivam Dube might not find a spot. 

Why CSK Might Release Dube?

Shivam Dube has been a powerful middle-order hitter for CSK, playing a key role in their IPL 2023 title win with 418 runs at a strike rate of 158.33. However, his form dipped in IPL 2024, where he scored 396 runs at an average of 36.00 showing significant inconsistency. In 2025, Dube was further down with his batting stats.

Teams That Could Target Shivam Dube If He Is Released

1. Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR’s middle order has struggled in IPL 2025, with inconsistent performances from key players. If Venkatesh Iyer is released or moved, a slot at number 5 could open up. 

With Rahane and Raghuvanshi performing well at 3 and 4, Dube’s powerful hitting and experience would make him an ideal fit at number 5, adding depth and firepower to KKR’s already gunned batting lineup.

2. Lucknow Super Giants

LSG’s middle order has been underwhelming, with failures from Marcus Stoinis and Rishabh Pant, the latter having an underwhelming average of 12.27 this season. If either is released or sidelined, Dube could be a strong candidate to fill the gap. 

His ability to clear boundaries and stabilize innings aligns with LSG’s aggressive batting philosophy, providing balance and experience to their middle order after top-order demolition from Marsh, Markram and Pooran.

3. Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB’s middle order is uncertain, especially regarding Liam Livingstone’s availability and form. Dube’s all-round capabilities and big-hitting prowess could provide RCB with a reliable middle-order option. 

Dube's experience in pressure situations and ability to accelerate innings would be valuable in the flat-tracked high-scoring Chinnaswamy Stadium conditions.

P.S. - Notably, in a special mention, Punjab Kings are expected to release Glenn Maxwell due to injury and inconsistent form. Hence, they will likely seek a dynamic spin-hitter and middle-order batter to fill the void. Dube’s powerful hitting and handy medium-pace bowling could make him a strong candidate for PBKS given the inconsistent performances of Josh Inglis.
