The Champions Trophy is done and dusted and now the caravan moves towards the much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) as the new season commences from March 22, with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

For a change, unlike investing in big names, the franchise went after solid players in the mega auction and built a strong core for the upcoming season. The playing XI is almost finalised, with several English stars coming in the list, however, the impact subs are also important in the IPL fixtures, and hence, here are 3 RCB players, who can come in as impact substitutes in the IPL matches. However, before that, we look at RCB's strongest XI for upcoming season.

RCB strongest XI for IPL 2025

Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar (c), Liam Livingstone, Devdutt Padikkal, Jitesh Sharma, Krunal Pandya, Suyash Sharma, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, Bhuveshwar Kumar

1) Swapnil Singh

The breakout star for RCB last season, Swapnil Singh is an underrated gem and just like last season, will be a crucial player, but as an impact substitute. Time and again, he changed the course of the match with the ball and also with the bat.

A prime example is how he helped RCB win the match against SRH in 2024 season, where he scalped 2 crucial wickets and chipped in with 12 runs off 6 balls as RCB defeated the Pat Cummins led side. Once again, expect the all-rounder to feature more as an impact player. If RCB bowl second, he can come in place of a proper batter, most probably Devdutt Padikkal.

2) Tim David

If RCB bat second, Tim David could be a masterstroke impact substitute. With RCB likely goibg in with 3 foreigners, he can replace Josh Hazlewood and can come in to bat, which will make the RCB batting more deeper.

In case David is being used as impact substitute, he can play the role of a finisher, something which he does to perfection for his BBL side, Hobart Hurricanes.

3) Rasikh Salam Dar

Perhaps the most underrated buy of the auction for RCB, Rasikh Salam Dar previously played for Delhi Capitals and has immense experience in playing Emerging Tournaments for India. However, in this RCB side, he may not find a place in the playing XI, but could come in handy as an impact player.

His IPL stats are not that impressive, but Rasikh Dar has immense potential to be a brilliant death bowler, as witnessed during the Emerging Asia Cup. In case RCB need an extra pacer on a spicy track to defend a total, the team might call up Rasikh as an impact player and could replace him with Padikkal, as the Karnataka batter doesn't offer anything with the ball.
